The Patagonia Black Hole Duffel 55L is a burly, cavernous bag with plenty of room for plenty of kit. It will however probably come in most useful as a travel bag when a suitcase is two formal and simply not practical.
The durable design, waterproof fabric and water-resistant zippers will keep your mind at rest when overly zealous baggage handlers are launching it through tropical storms (and untropical ones). The padded bottom panel provides structure, helping the bag keep it's shape and giving a little protection to less robust items inside.
The U-shaped zipper is ideal for when you need a quickly need to find whatever is hiding in the pockets of the pair of slacks that are invariably under everything else. The versatile carrying options (normal duffel or rucksack) are a relief for when you have to travel extended distances. An external pocket is great for quick access to important items. Haul loops at either end are great for more serious use, and 4 daisy chains give the bag a bit of extra climbing cred.
